TRCSG Leaves on in Indo-Pacific Deployment Mission

The U.S. Navy has declared the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (TRCSG) left from San Diego for a scheduled Indo-Pacific deployment on January 17.

Over 6,000 Sailors mounted to TRCSG ships and units will manage maritime security, maintain liberty of the seas following the international law and customs, and function with foreign associates and allies to promote regional stability and prosperity.

TRCSG is also mounted with Carrier Strike Group 9, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11, the Ticonderoga class guided-missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill (CG 52), USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60), USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115), USS Pinckney (DDG 91), Destroyer Squadron 23, and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Russell (DDG 59), USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) and USS Kidd (DDG 100).

Theodore Roosevelt’s started air wing is mounted with the “Blue Diamonds” of VFA-146, “The Grey Wolves” of Digital Assault Squadron (VAQ) 142, “Black Knights” of VFA-154, “Tomcatters” of Strike Fighter Squadrons (VFA) 31, “Liberty Bells” of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 115, “Golden Warriors” of VFA-87, “Wolf Pack” of Helicopter

The TRCSG was last deployed for a seven-month deployment supporting Activities Inherent Resolve and Freedom’s Sentinel, as well as maritime security cooperation practices in U.S. 5th and 7th Line areas of operations October 2017 to May 2018.

The TRCSG is part of the U.S. 3rd Fleet, which guides naval forces in the Pacific and provides the realistic, relevant training obligatory for an effective global Navy.

U.S. 3rd Fleet constantly adjusts with U.S. 7th Fleet to plan and execute missions based on their corresponding strengths to promote ongoing harmony, security, and stability throughout the entire Pacific field of operations.
