Major U.S. wireless companies stated Monday they will extend a commitment through June 30 not to cancel service or charge late fees to prospects who’ve been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
In March, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) stated major wireless and internet providers – together with Verizon Communications, Comcast, AT&T, T-Mobile US, and Alphabet’s Google Fiber – had agreed not to suspend service for subscribers for 60 days. In total, over 700 corporations have now agreed to the voluntary measures.
Verizon, AT&T, Comcast, and T-Cellular all stated Monday they will extend the voluntary commitments that had been set to expire in mid-May.
FCC Chair Ajit Pai had revealed the voluntary commitments in March after discussions with carriers and stated that they had also agreed to open Wi-Fi hotspots to those who need them.
Around 24 state attorneys general, last week, requested carriers to extend the voluntary measures until August 11.

Cox Communications said Monday it was extending its dedication not to suspend service or charge late fees through till 30 and to keep open its Cox Wi-Fi hotspots.
U.S. Cellular said it will extend till July 31, some consumer actions such as providing some prospects with additional hotspot data and removing data caps on high-speed internet plans.
