An F-35B Lightning II fighter plane, MV-22B Osprey, and CH-53E Super Stallion appointed to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit; Marine Medium Tiltrotor 265 carried out flight operations during naval missions in help of U.S. national interests in the Indo-Pacific territory of operations.

America, with the embarked 31st MEU and VMM 265 Reinforced, is carrying out operations in the South China Sea after concluding Exercise Cobra Gold in the Kingdom of Thailand on March 7.

The 31st MEU is one of Marine Expeditionary Units in the U.S. Marine Corps. The Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is a Marine Air-Ground Task Force with a capacity of nearly 2,200 Marines and sailors.

The MEU is novel in its air and ground fight specs are integrated to combat service support under the MEU commanding officer. This air-ground task force is developed to exploit the power inherent in air and ground assets by combining them into a single force. It brings what it must sustain itself from the ocean for the fast execution of the mission or to create the way for follow-on forces.

The size of the MEU makes it well-suited for amphibious combat operations in addition to non-combat crisis response missions. The MEU is an expeditionary force in nature capable of operating in foreign lands without U.S. bases and facilities.
